Freebie Design Five - Featuring Circle Sets & Diamond/Diagonal Set
Use this design for single, double or triple Irish Chain quilts. Using the Diamond/Diagonal Ruler, sitich rows of diagonals as shown. Begin and end sitiching in a seam line.
Be careful when using the piecing as guidelines. When piecing that is less than perfect is used to guide the stitching of diagonals, you will get wavy diagonals. To make sure that your diagonals are straight, position the ruler and sitich a straight line without regard to the intersections of the squares. If you choose to do this, be sure the thread color you choose will not stand out on any of the fabrics of the chain. For instance, if the fabrics are dark solids, don't use muslin colored thread. This will only serve to point out all the places where the quilt maked did not match intersections.
Stitch in the ditch on the outside edges of the quilt.
Use one of the Circle Set Templates to sitch a circle for a freehand feather wreath in the plain blocks.
