T-pins

Tips on Floating the Top

Regular pins with large heads will get caught between the base of the machine and the rulers when stitching close to the top pinned edge of the quilt. This causes undesired wobbles in stitching lines. To eliminate this we recommend that you use T-pins to pin the top to the take up roller.

These pins are steel, 2" long and a supply of 80 pins is enough to pin a top that is 160" long.

When Floating the Top, pin the backing to the take up roller, then baste the top to the backing. In addition, clamps are not used on the quilt top. This allows the quilter to quilt all the way off the edge of the quilt when using our rulers to stitch close to the edge or when stitching borders.
