| Longarm Machine & Foot Information |

|
 |
In order to properly use our stitch guides, templates and rulers for the Longarm quilting machine you need to be sure of three things:
1. The hopping foot of the machine needs to be capable of gliding along the edge of the tool on all sides of the foot. All of the longarm gadgets are placed on top of the quilt and the hopping/presser foot is placed against the edge then stitched along the edge.
2. An attachment that enlarges the base area of the machine is needed. The extension should extend outward from the needle in all directions for best results. The longarm gadgets are placed on top of the quilt and rest upon this base.
3. The foot has a straight shank; so that you can stitch completely around a circle or oval without changing it's shape.
The hopping foot size determines which tools work best with your machine. Please read the choices below so that you choose the correct size when ordering.
Choose Foot Size: 1/2" wide foot and is compatible with 1/4" thick acrylic. (which means the needle stitches 1/4\" from the edge of the foot)
If you are quilting on a: Gammill, Handi-Quilter 16, A-1, Nolting made after 1995, APQS with 1/2" wide foot, Prodigy or a 9" straight stitch heavy duty home sewing machine fitted with the new 1/4" ruler foot (Item #35.1)
Choose Foot Size: 1/2" wide foot compatible with 3/8" thick acrylic. If you are quilting on a: Pre 1995 Nolting (which has a higher hop) or a Prodigy and prefer the 3/8" thick acrylic.
Choose Foot Size: 3/4" wide foot compatible with 1/4" thick acrylic. Example machines: APQS with 3/4" wide foot and white "O" ring adapter. NOTE: Your foot is wider than the standard 1/2" foot & you will need to allow for that when using standard templates. IE: When you go all the way around a 3" circle, you get a 3 3/4" stitched line.
Choose Foot Size: 7/8" modified ULT. 2 foot.
If you are quilting on an: Ultimate II & have the Ult. II foot
NOTE: Your foot is wider than the standard 1/2" foot & you will need to allow for that when using standard templates. IE: When you go all the way around a 3" circle, you get a 3 7/8" stitched line.
If, after reading the information on this page about machines/foot sizes, you are not sure if you can use these gadgets, please contact us with your questions. |
